Alex is Founder and CEO of GFC Media Group. He is responsible for shaping the business strategy as well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the company. Launched in 2009 focusing on capital markets conferences in the GCC, the business today operates across 4 continents and delivers market intelligence and peer-to-peer discussion to over 10,000 senior finance and investment executives per year.

Shelly Shetty is a Managing Director and the co-head of the Americas in the sovereign group at Fitch Ratings, based in New York. She has over 20 years of experience in assessing sovereign risk. She is responsible for overseeing ratings and leading the research initiative on sovereigns in the Americas. The lead sovereign analyst covering Brazil, Shelly is also the chief spokesperson for the group on Latin American sovereign ratings. She is also a member of rating committees for sovereigns throughout the world, particularly emerging markets.

Prior to joining Fitch in 2000, Shelly was an assistant vice president for the sovereign group at Duff & Phelps Credit Rating Co. (DCR), where she covered countries in Central Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Shelly earned a B.A. and an M.A. in economics from Delhi University and an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University.

Fernando M. Gonçalves holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.A. in Economics from FGV-RJ and a B.A. in Industrial Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Before joining Itaú, Fernando was head of economic research at Vinci Partners, worked at two other asset management firms in Brazil – JGP and Ventor Investimentos – and was an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In 2015 and 2016, Fernando was also a professor at the Professional Master Program in Economics and Finance of PUC-RJ. His vast experience includes the coverage of Brazilian and international economies, including various presentations and road shows for institutional clients. He is currently head of the sell-side area in the Macroeconomic research team at Itaú.
